Craft weaving
We have had he opportunity to do weaving in Room 4. Thank you to Lisa and Soncee Henderson who came to help yesterday. We made flowers and a basket. The children have been able to take these home.
Matariki Art
We have been learning about Matariki and the seven stars. We have created our own sky line. We had a lot of fun taking pretend photos of watching the night sky, look at our reactions.
We had to scratch in the stars, asteroids and meteors.
Pop into Room 4 and have a look at the students creations- they are looking FANTASTIC!

Matariki Week
We have a very exciting week planned. We have had a very successful 'Day One' with matariki art- it is on display in the classroom, pop in and have a look- it's looking fantastic! We have a rotation planned each day, for the rest of the existing week. Also our hangi, this Friday. We are very excited to see, smell and taste this amazing shared lunch with pur Twyford community.
School yard Solar System
We measured out the Solar System in a smaller scale to fit across the feild. We noticed that the first four rock planets were almost evenly spaced between each planet. Then as we measured out the existing planets the distances increased greatly. No wonder they are frozen planets- they are so far away from our star, the sun. The distances that the heat has to travel is hundreds of thousands of kilometres.

Trip to the Planetarium
17th July, 2014
We had a very exciting trip to the Planetarium on Tuesday. We explored the night sky, of what it was to look like that night. We were able to see the planets in orbit/ view that night. We closely identified star signs such as Sagittarius and Scorpio, also the Southern Cross. It was a great experience and the children'is learning expanded as we explored the universe.
We had a lovely picnic lunch on the Marine Parade. Children were able to play and ultilise the new playground equipment.
